2022 was a historic year for the Northern Ireland Senior Women’s Team. Not only did they make their first appearance at a major tournament, but they also registered a record point haul in a qualification campaign. As we look forward into 2023 and beyond the Women’s game in Northern Ireland is going from strength to strength right from grassroots through to elite.


A pipeline of excellent talent into the future is the key to continued success. To support the cultivation of this pipeline, the IFA are seeking a Girls’ Elite Youth Academy Manager to ensure that youth talent up to under 16 level is supported and developed to the highest possible standards.

Reporting to the Director of Women’s Football, the Girls’ Elite Youth Academy Manager will effectively lead and manage the talent identification and development programmes for youth talent up to age 16. They will source, recruit, train and retain youth players for National Under 15 and Under 16 Development Squads.

The Academy Manager will prepare these exceptional Girls for future life as Under 17/Under 19 or Senior Women’s International players.

The right candidate will hold a valid and up to date UEFA A Licence and have at least three years’ experience in youth development or education in a football performance environment. They will also have sound understanding of best practice in the identification and development of football talent and have knowledge of the NIFL and NIWFA leagues and competitions.

It goes without saying that you will have the soft skills to bring the best out of young players along with the ability to manage effective relationships with partners including parents, clubs and the players themselves.
