Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA), is a membership and representative umbrella body for the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. It operates in a truly vibrant and diverse context, supporting, promoting and representing the issues of over 1200 members, to find innovative solutions for social challenges and advance the interests of people and communities. NICVA is seeking to appoint to this role following the announcement of the retirement of the incumbent Chief Executive.

NICVA has benefitted from strong and visible leadership and is highly regarded across the sector and with government stakeholders. The organisation’s influence, impact and collaborative approach has built momentum and created strategic opportunities, post-COVID between the sector and NIVCA in their representative, leadership role.

The successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership across this highly impactful organisation, supporting the Executive Committee to set the strategic direction, shape policy, and be accountable for the efficient delivery of services.  With the importance of maintaining an influential public voice, a crucial aspect of the role is the ability to engage with the voluntary and community sector, and influence policymakers, while scanning the environment for emerging opportunities that align with NICVA’s core purpose.

The role requires at least three years’ senior management experience in either policy setting or service delivery focused role, with a track record of working collaboratively and leading effective partnerships.  You must have formal strategic planning experience, knowledge of the current and emerging issues within the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland along with exceptional engagement and influencing skills.

This is a most exciting opportunity to lead an organisation that has a critical role to play in society at a pivotal time. It offers a competitive remuneration package, but most importantly, the potential to make a lasting and transformational impact on the lives of many.
