Candidate Pack

Since 1990 MACS has been working with children and young people (aged 6-25) who haven’t had a fair deal. They may be experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, self- harm, mental health issues, leaving care or they are generally at risk.

MACS’ vision is simple; to ‘Make Life Great for Children & Young People’. This vision is actioned through the provision of services such as: supported housing, helping young people find and keep accommodation, and tailored mental health support. MACS further empowers the young people it serves through ensuring their active and meaningful participation in the development and delivery of MACS services.

The appointment of Chair is a critical one and presents an opportunity for an experienced senior leader to be at the forefront of delivering meaningful improvements to the life prospects of many children and young people. The new Chair, together with the Board, plays a vital leadership role to ensure MACS remains positioned to meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people in the years ahead.

The Chair will have successful executive or non-executive leadership experience and be skilled at bringing people to consensus around key decisions. While it is not necessary that you have a background in working with Children or Young People, you do need to have a genuine interest in leading the pursuit, delivery and furtherance of MACS purpose and be committed to MACS’ Vision and Values.

While it is non-remunerated, it presents the opportunity to make a huge impact and will prove to be immensely rewarding.
