As part of the natural succession process, we are now seeking to appoint up to three new voluntary board members who will play important roles within the governance structure of Choice Services. Board members provide assurance around key areas including Procurement, Performance and Customer Service, Risk Management, Compliance and Health and Safety.

Choice Services (Ireland) Limited is a wholly owned trading subsidiary of Choice Housing, one of the largest independent housing associations in Northern Ireland.  Choice Services provides response repairs and maintenance services to over 9,000 residential properties across Northern Ireland and a further 500 homes in Greater Dublin.  The business was established in 2017 and has grown rapidly to have an annual turnover of c£9m and employs over 80 staff.  The business delivers around 80% of day-to-day repairs service for Choice Housing and is providing increasing levels of Choice’s planned maintenance.

Board members provide assurance around key areas including Procurement, Performance and Customer Service, Risk Management, Compliance and Health and Safety.  A key element of the role is shaping the strategic direction of Choice Services while supporting the senior leadership team to deliver an ambitious growth agenda to create a business that truly delivers best value and an exceptional level of customer service.

The role requires candidates with a track record operating effectively at the senior management level for a major company, public body, charity, third sector organisation or at director/partner level in a professional services firm.  Through your career to date, you will have developed a strong appreciation of the general workings and purpose of a Board and/or Committee in shaping strategy and overseeing performance.  Your commercial acumen and understanding of risk management will allow you to ensure the sustainable success of the business while adhering to good governance principles.

You must have an appreciation of how cost-effective customer services are delivered.   While this role does not require specific experience in maintenance services or facilities management, a background in these areas may be helpful.

Given the future potential and growth ambitions of the business, these opportunities arise at a very interesting time to join as a Board member.  The role is non-remunerated and board meetings are currently held bi-monthly via MS Teams.
